Basic Safety Training Re-Validation 3 Day Course (USCG Approved)
What is Re-Validation?
Every 5 years, a mariner is required to show proficiency in the skills related to Basic Training. This can be done through a combination of sea time with participation in onboard drills and training combined with a demonstration of practical skills that must be done at a shoreside approved training facility. Re-Validation course includes only Personal Survival Technique and Basic Fire Fighting. The other two elements do not need to be taken.
The USCG will accept sea service (360 Days in the previous 5 years) on a vessel that is required to perform month relevant drills as elligability for renewing your STCW Basic Training. Mariners who don't meet that requirement will need to take a "Re-Fresher" Course or take the full 5 day course.
