Basic Safety Training 3 Day Course To Achieve "Re-Validation"
-
What is Re-Validation?
Every 5 years, a mariner is required to show proficiency in the skills related to Basic Training. This can be done through a combination of sea time with participation in onboard drills and training combined with a demonstration of practical skills that must be done at a shoreside approved training facility. Re-Validation course includes only Personal Survival Technique and Basic Fire Fighting. The other two elements do not need to be taken.
-
The USCG will accept sea service (360 Days in the previous 5 years) on a vessel that is required to perform month relevant drills as eligibility for renewing your STCW Basic Training. Mariners who don't meet that requirement will need to take a "Re-Fresher" Course or take the full 5 day course.
