Captain School USVI
Basic Safety Training Re-Validation Course (1 Day) or (3 Day Option)

What is Re-Validation?
Every 5 years, a mariner is required to show proficiency in the skills related to Basic Training. This can be done through a combination of sea time with participation in onboard relevant drills and training combined with a demonstration of practical skills that must be done at a shoreside approved training facility. Re-Validation course includes only the required assessments from the Personal Survival Technique and Basic F ire Fighting.

The USCG will accept sea service (360 Days in the previous 5 years) on a vessel that is required to perform monthly relevant drills as eligibility for renewing your STCW Basic Training. Mariners who don't meet that requirement will need to take a "Re-Fresher" Course or take the full 5 day course. Example of vessels that are required to perform the relevant drill would be vessels with a COI or a SOLAS vessel.

The Captain School USVI is USCG approved to provide the Assessments for Basic Training. We offer a 1 day session that typically consists of firefighting in the morning and Personal survival technique in the afternoon. This may sometime be split up into two separate days. Please check our schedule or give us a call to confirm the dates.

3-Day BT (Basic Training) Courses: This is a combination of Basic Fire Fighting and Personal Survival Technique. Some mariners may qualify for Re-Validation on paper but not may not be confident in their ability to perform the assessments without a review of the skills and knowledge.
